While the south-west of Cornwall was being battered by storms yesterday, we took refuge in the warm comforting arms of Xmas Mart at The Acorn in Penzance.
Quite a few posts ago, way back in the days when the weather was slightly more clement, I featured May Mart. This series of shopping events has been created by Heyday – a talented collective of artists, illustrators, photographers, screen printers, designer-makers, sellers of vintage items and, very importantly, a chef.
Xmas Mart built upon the success of their event in May and the brilliant Mazey Mart, by introducing a fantastic selection of new stallholders in addition to their talented regulars. It was great to see some new work and I fell head over heels in love with Esther Connon’s delicate illustrations. The husband had a cracking time ‘pulling a print’ with the talented Kiwi Printmaking Studio but happiest of all was Little My as she scoffed delicious chocolate cake and adopted a new friend called Neep – one of Katie Lennon’s Knitted Freaks.
If you missed Xmas Mart, make sure you follow Heyday on Facebook or keep an eye on their website for news of future events.
