I used to work for a large gallery in St Ives which had an exceptionally fine bookshop. One of my first purchases I made there was ‘Milk Teeth’ by Julie Morstad.
I had not heard of this illustrator before I stumbled across ‘Milk Teeth’ but I was so excited when I picked up this book. It was one of those amazing moments when you look at an image and something just clicks.
I recently purchased ‘Singing Away the Dark’ written by Caroline Woodward and illustrated by Julie. It is a simple and beautifully written story, which Julie’s illustrations compliment perfectly.
Just before I wrote this post, I went on to Julie’s website. I was so happy to see an illustration of Shakespeare and Company, which she had illustrated for the Paris Literary Prize website. One of my favourite illustrators, drawing my favourite bookshop. I like. www.juliemorstad.com
