We’ve been at our allotment this afternoon. I was a bit worried about what state it would be in after a weeks break but I needn’t have worried.

The ground was bone dry but the plants (and a couple of weeds) were thriving. I was especially pleased with my garlic. It’s huge! I can’t wait to tuck in to those in a few months time.

It was also very cheering to see flowers on my wild strawberries. I can see that there will be fights over who will get to those little red fruit-bombs first.

We like to keep the edges of our plot a bit wild to attract insects, bees and butterflies (well that’s what I like to tell myself anyway). There were little flashes of blue, pink and yellow everywhere.
